The standard we hold ourselves to
Anyone can claim to be careful. This page sets out what careful means at SKR Tips in enough detail that you can check whether we keep to it.
Standards
How SKR Tips chooses topics, checks claims, names writers, dates articles and handles corrections and commercial links.

A minority of outbound links are commercial. None of them have ever changed a sentence that was written before the link existed.
A request to pull a criticism gets a flat no and a place in our records. Sometimes that request is more revealing than the thing complained about, and it says so in a later piece.
Topics come from three places: reader mail, our own notes, and gaps we notice while reading what else is published. Nothing gets written because a keyword tool suggested it.
Bylines are real people with real archives attached. If you disagree with a piece, you can see what else the same person has written and judge accordingly.
Saskia Ferrante, WordPress editor. Saskia has built WordPress sites for clients since the early 2010s and tested more themes than she can remember. She edits SKR Tips and writes about themes, builders and plugins.
Anouk Delacorte, SEO and web writer. Anouk worked in an agency on search and technical SEO before going freelance. She writes about structured data, site speed and the small fixes that help pages get found.
Matthias Okeke, Gaming sites writer. Matthias ran a clan website and a fan wiki for years before writing about them. He covers the sites gaming communities build, from guides to patch note pages.
Published means published. We do not bump dates to look active, and an edit only changes the modified date when it changes what the article actually tells you to do.
Corrections go to [email protected]. Include the address and the sentence. Anything factual is fixed without argument. Anything that changes what the article recommends gets a dated note underneath, so the change is visible.
