About SKR Tips

The people behind SKR Tips, how each article about WordPress, website building and SEO for gaming communities is put together, and what we will not publish.

Start here

This is a blog and nothing more complicated than that. Nothing is deleted once it is up, so the archive is the full record, written to the standard of the line under the logo, Website tips that actually work.

There was no plan. Saskia Ferrante kept being asked the same handful of questions about WordPress, website building and SEO for gaming communities, got tired of writing the same reply, and put the replies somewhere permanent.

The limits of this site

What we do not do is predict outcomes. Nothing about WordPress, website building and SEO for gaming communities works that way, and pages that pretend otherwise are selling something.

The people

There is no house byline here. Each piece is signed, and each signature leads to everything else that person has put their name to.

Saskia Ferrante, WordPress editor. Saskia has built WordPress sites for clients since the early 2010s and tested more themes than she can remember. She edits SKR Tips and writes about themes, builders and plugins.

Anouk Delacorte, SEO and web writer. Anouk worked in an agency on search and technical SEO before going freelance. She writes about structured data, site speed and the small fixes that help pages get found.

Matthias Okeke, Gaming sites writer. Matthias ran a clan website and a fan wiki for years before writing about them. He covers the sites gaming communities build, from guides to patch note pages.

What we publish

  • Games. Websites for online gaming communities: fan sites, clan pages, wikis, guides and the tools behind them.
  • WordPress. Themes, page builders and plugins, chosen with care rather than hype.
  • Web Tips. Small, practical fixes for online stores, local businesses and everyday websites.

One article, one topic. It keeps the category pages usable, and in practice games, wordpress and web tips are where most readers end up.

How an article gets made

Every piece here starts with a question somebody actually asked. If we cannot answer it from experience or from a source we can name, it does not get published.

We are not neutral about quality, but we are honest about incentives. Where money is involved, the page says so.

If you want the mechanics rather than the summary, the editorial policy has them, including what we refuse to publish.

About the name

People ask about the name. There is rarely a good story behind a domain, and there is not one here either. SKR Tips was available, it was short enough to say out loud, and it has been the name long enough now that changing it would be more confusing than keeping it.

Fixing mistakes

Corrections go to [email protected]. Quote the sentence rather than describing it. We would rather log a visible correction than edit a page and hope nobody noticed, and the contact page explains the rest.
